How to Use Hair Oil the Right Way (Without the Grease)
A lot of people give up on hair oil because it left them greasy, or because they didn't see results. Nine times out of ten, it comes down to how it was used. Here's the routine we recommend.
1. Start with a small amount
You need far less than you think. A few pumps is plenty for most hair lengths. Too much oil is the number-one reason hair ends up flat and greasy — and it makes washing out harder.
2. Focus on the scalp first
Section your hair and apply Maya Hair Oil directly to the scalp, then work the rest down the lengths and ends. The scalp is where nourishment matters most; the ends just need what's left on your fingers.
3. Massage for a few minutes
Use your fingertips (not nails) to massage in slow circles for 3–5 minutes. This helps the oil absorb and is genuinely relaxing at the end of a long day.
4. Leave it — but you don't need to sleep in it
1–2 hours is enough to get the benefit. Overnight is fine too if you protect your pillow, but it isn't required. Then wash out with a mild shampoo.
5. Be consistent
Two to three times a week is the sweet spot. Results come from rhythm, not intensity — a little, often, beats a lot, rarely.
Quick tip: on wash day, apply the oil before you shower rather than after. It conditions while you go about your morning, and rinses out cleanly.
